CREOKS Community Storerooms serve as a vital solution to combat short-term food and resource insecurity by providing access to nutritious food, clothing and personal care items for CREOKS clients. With locations in Broken Arrow, Wagoner, Catoosa and west Tulsa, this donation-based program helps eliminate many of the barriers to meeting basic needs. Through building community partnerships and incredible volunteers, the goal is to expand Community Storerooms across all CREOKS locations.

Hungry for Change

Food insecurity is the lack of consistent access to enough nutritious food to maintain an active and healthy life. This can lead to hunger, malnutrition and various health issues, which not only impact physical but also mental wellbeing.

Hunger is a pressing issue in Oklahoma with 18% of the population living below the poverty line. Plus, more than one in four children rely on food stamps to have enough to eat. Causes of food security include:

  • Unemployment or low income
  • Lack of affordable housing
  • Chronic health conditions and no access to care
  • Food deserts

The need for comprehensive solutions to address this problem is evident, and the Community Storeroom is proud to help Oklahomans access sufficient food.
